The short version
- There are no accounts, and we never ask for your Facebook login or password.
- We don't store the links you paste or the videos you download.
- We don't set cookies and we don't use analytics or advertising trackers.
- Your theme choice (light or dark) is saved in your own browser, not on our servers.
- Our infrastructure providers keep standard technical logs for a short time to keep the service secure.
This policy covers the website at fsaver.org and the download service it uses ("FSaver", "we", "us"). By using FSaver you agree to the practices described here.
Information we handle
Links you paste
When you press Download, the Facebook link you entered is sent to our download service so it can find the video and the available qualities. The link is processed to answer that one request and is not saved to a database or tied to you.
Video and thumbnail requests
When you download a file or see a video's thumbnail, your browser requests it from our download service, which fetches it from Facebook's servers and streams it straight back to you. These requests contain the address of the file on Facebook's servers and the file name. We don't keep a copy of the video or the thumbnail.
Technical information
Like every website, the servers that deliver FSaver automatically receive technical information with each request: your IP address, browser and device type, the page or file requested, the referring page and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver the page and to protect the service from abuse.
Messages you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to handle your request.
What we don't collect
We don't collect Facebook usernames or passwords, payment details, precise location, contacts or any information from your Facebook account. FSaver only works with public videos and never signs in to Facebook on your behalf.
How we use information
- To provide the service: find the video behind a link and deliver the file you choose.
- To keep FSaver secure and available, for example by detecting and blocking automated abuse.
- To fix bugs and understand failures, using error information from our download service.
- To answer messages and handle copyright, privacy or legal requests.
- To comply with the law and respond to valid legal requests.
We don't sell personal information, we don't share it for targeted advertising, and we don't build profiles of the people who use FSaver.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run FSaver. They process data on our behalf and only as needed:
- Cloudflare runs our download service on its global network and receives the technical information described above for every request it handles.
- Our website host delivers the pages of fsaver.org and receives standard request information.
- Our email provider stores the messages you send us.
To fetch public videos, our download service contacts Facebook's servers. Those requests come from our service, not from your device, so Facebook doesn't receive your IP address from them. When you open a Facebook link yourself, Meta's own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep information
- Links and videos: not stored. They exist only for the length of the request.
- Technical logs kept by our providers: for a short period, usually no longer than 30 days, unless we need them longer to investigate abuse or meet a legal obligation.
- Emails: for as long as needed to handle your request, then deleted.
- Your theme setting: in your browser until you clear it.
Security
All traffic to FSaver is encrypted with HTTPS. Our download service only fetches files from Facebook's own servers and rejects any other address. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but holding as little data as possible is the best protection we can offer.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation and California privacy law, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to or restrict how we use it;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
Because we don't have accounts or keep the links you paste, the only personal information we usually hold is what's in emails you've sent us. To make a request, email contact@fsaver.org. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Where GDPR applies, we process technical information on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure, working service, and messages on the basis of answering your request.
Children
FSaver isn't directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the UK, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
International transfers
Our providers operate worldwide, so information may be processed outside the country where you live. Where the law requires it, these transfers are protected by safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as FSaver changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, such as adding analytics, we'll make it clear on this page before it takes effect.
